Hazem Afifi, MD, earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, NY. He completed an internship in general surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA. He completed a General Surgery Residency at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident. He was a Research Fellow and Instructor in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY, where he completed a Clinical Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship.
Mehdi Akhavan-Heidari, MD, FACS
Mehdi Akhavan-Heidari, MD, FACS, earned his medical degree at the University of Vienna Medical School in Vienna, Austria . He completed a General Surgery Internship at West Virginia University Charleston Division in Charleston, WV. He then completed a General Surgery Residency at Marshall University in Huntington, WV, and a Cardiothoracic Residency at Loyola University in Chicago, IL.

Diplomat of the American Boards of Thoracic Surgery and General Surgery. Special interests include minimally invasive Valve Surgery, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement, Aortic Surgery, Mitral Valve Repair, Surgical Management of Atrial Fibrillation and Esophageal surgery.
Harbinder Singh, MD
Harbinder Singh, MD, earned his medical degree at Chicago Medical School in Chicago, IL. He completed an internship at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL. He completed a General Surgery Residency at the University of Illinois Metropolitan Group Hospitals in Chicago, IL and a Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency at Boston University Medical Center in Boston, MA. He was also the Senior Resident in Congenital Cardiac Surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA, where he also completed a Cardiac Surgery Fellowship.
Mohammed Raphi, APRN, NP-C
Mohammed Raphi, APRN, NP-C earned a Master of Science in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner) from Kaplan University in Chicago, IL. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Government College of Nursing at Mahatma Gandhi University in Kerala, India. He is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Nevada and is a certified Critical Care Registered Nurse by the AACN. He is certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support by the American Heart Association.
